Our Services

Gender

Gender mainstreaming is the process of assessing the implications for women and men of any planned action including legislation, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes (UN Economic and Social Council ECOSOC). The ultimate goal is to achieve gender equality. Marathon Development Consultants support clients to conduct gender analyses to obtain concrete information regarding gender issues affecting female and male community members; facilitate mainstreaming of gender at project and household level and help to increase women and youth participation in leadership and decision making at household and at institutional levels

Climate Change

Climate Change which has been experienced in recent times is characterized by unpredictable rainfall patterns negatively affecting agricultural production. Food insecurity, soil erosion and floods are increasingly forcing governments, private sector players and farmers to rethink strategies of farming focusing on Climate Smart Agriculture. At Marathon, we have expertise to deliver training in Climate Smart Agriculture technologies that enhance sustainable agriculture, food security and livelihood improvement. We support farmers to develop their respective CSA plans which contain interventions such as contour bunds, grass bunds, soil conservation and water harvesting.

COVID-19

The prevailing COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted socio-economic development initiatives locally, nationally and globally.  According to Uganda’s Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED), a preliminary assessment conducted in March 2020 showed that the short-term impact of the pandemic may increase the number of poor people in Uganda by 2.6 million. It also indicates that there will be a severe reduction in exports, tourism receipts and workers’ remittances plus domestic revenue shortfalls. At Marathon Development Consultants we work with our clients to integrate COVID-19 related responses in their planning and implementation activities.
